Ep 69: Weekender Files - Bob Kellagher
/

In episode 69 of The Popko Project podcast I’m joined by Bob Kellagher, former publisher of the Weekender and the man who convinced the Times Leader to purchase it in 1993. You’ll never believe the amount of money they paid for it! For those of you who don’t know, the Weekender back in the day was THE BIBLE when it came to arts and entertainment in Northeastern, Pennsylvania.

Before being named publisher of the Weekender, Bob served as a circulation executive at The Times Leader, applying a marketing background to help The Times Leader gain market share on The Citizens’ Voice in a 2 newspaper town who still rival one another to this day.

From the 1st issue of the Weekender, how it was almost shut down only 2 years in, leaving for the Philly Edge, and his newfound love of playing guitar, we talk about it all.

It’s always a joy to speak to the generation before me who helped launch something that was so special to so many different people.

Welcome to the show, Bob Kellagher

Brought to you by Keller’s Garden Center/Keller’s Lawn Care And Landscaping Services LLC located near Blue Ribbon in Exeter, PA and Ionic Development #ad
