Ep 9: Weekender Files - Kristie Grier Ceruti, aka Kristie Grier, aka KG
/

Welcome to episode 9 of The Popko Project podcast where I’m joined by Kristie Grier Ceruti, aka Kristie Grier, aka KG.

Kristie spent a combined 5 and a half years at the Weekender serving as editor and general manager. She was one the one who hired me as an intern at the Weekender so I’m thankful for her giving me a shot and ultimately my start in media.

For those of you who don’t know, the Weekender back in the day was THE BIBLE when it came to arts and entertainment in Northeastern, Pennsylvania. This one was a bit of a marathon. I only had to take one pee break and we got through A LOT. From how she started at the Weekender in 1999 as editor and eventual promotion to general manager, co-workers who helped make the Weekender what it was, and what the Weekender meant to her. All the way to why she left, where she is today, her family, her friends, and so much more.

Kristie put a lot of effort into this discussion going as far as putting together powerpoint slideshow highlighting some of my moments as an intern, cutting edge cover stories and designs and more. These episodes dubbed “Weekender Files” take a look ack at past employees reflecting on how they started at the Weekender, what the Weekender meant to them, memories, the ups, the downs and where they are today.
